After a bout of serious literary A-D-D, I have finally found a novel that I absolutely love—Sarah Pekkanen's fantastic debut, The Opposite of Me.
Now considering it has the always-coveted endorsement of another author I've always enjoyed, Jennifer Weiner, I knew there was a good chance I'd probably like it. What I didn't know, of course, was how much...
It's always a good sign when I plow through a novel in just a couple of days. Not only was the sisterly component an interesting twist on the whole smart VS. pretty debate, but I really appreciated Pekkanen's unfussy but engaging prose.
And unlike many stories where you see the ending coming from a mile away, I was actually surprised by how things turned out for the protagonist, a girl I could definitely enjoy a cup of coffee with—a nice change from most chick-lit heroines who only have shopping and boys on the brain.
